Bachelor Loop & West Willow Road & East Willow Road - Level 2 (optional 3)
This route climbs out of Creede into the San Juan Mountains on the Bachelor Loop and the West and East Willow roads. It follows forest roads through the narrow canyon of Willow Creek and up into higher country above town. Expect a mix of aspen, spruce and open slopes, with views back toward the Rio Grande valley.
The loop works well as a half-day outing from Creede. Plan to share the road with other recreational traffic, especially in summer and during fall color.

Typically suitable for high clearance 2WD
This is an Easy, level 2 route on East Willow Road, generally suitable for a high clearance 2WD vehicle. Stock equipment is enough, though tire traction and ground clearance may be tested. Expect dirt and rocky surfaces that are typically unmaintained after rain or snow, with possible dips, ruts and small ledges under 12 inches, and shallow water crossings. Roads are typically one to two vehicles wide. The driver's log has no notes on specific obstacles. There is an optional harder line at level 3 through a rocky section that suits a high clearance 4x4. It brings more rock or uneven surface, ledges, drops or climbs, and careful tire placement. The driver can take that line or stay on the easier one.
