Pinto Spring - Level 2

Pinto Spring is a backcountry route in the Pine Valley and Bull Valley area of Washington County, in southwestern Utah. It follows a dirt road through high desert terrain on the edge of the Great Basin.

The route suits a relaxed day out for drivers who want a quiet road away from the busier St. George area trails.

Level 2 is Easy and is typically suitable for a high clearance 2WD vehicle. Stock equipment is enough, though tire traction and ground clearance may be tested. Expect dirt or rocky surfaces with rocks, dips or ruts under 9 inches, and possibly shallow water crossings or small ledges under 12 inches. The road is usually one to two vehicles wide and typically unmaintained after rain or snow. The driver's log marks one hard spot at Level 2, a rut about 5 inches deep. There is also a gate on the trail that must be returned to its closed position after passing through.
